A snow melting system is a radiant loop built into an exterior surface and driven by a hydronic plant sized for the slab, the surface material and local winter conditions. Sensors trigger the system on snowfall and hold the surface just above freezing until the event passes.
These systems are designed with the landscape and structure together: tube layout, insulation, expansion, glycol protection, manifold location and control strategy all have to be resolved before the surface is poured or laid.
